Friday Frankie took off of work and we got to have a whole day playing with Daddy! Eddie *loves* daddy days - he just wants Frank allllll the time. After letting me sleep in a bit, we went out to Naperville for some lunch (Olive Garden soup, salad and bread sticks - yumola!!) and to the BRU (Babies R Us) to get Eddie a new convertible car seat. Did you know that BRU will let you take the sample seat to your car to let you test it? Awesome feature, let me tell you. We ended up going with Edd.ieBau.er's 3 in 1 seat which can go from rear-facing to front facing to taking all of the straps out and using it as a booster seat. The main feature that we were going for was a seat that didn't have suede/thick material covering the entire seat, because that would just be uncomfortable, in my opinion. Can you imagine sitting on suede in the middle of summer? Ick. So this one had the suede around the edges and then a normal vinyl-ish material on the actual seat. Perfect! (As an FYI, the AAP now recommends that all children be rear-facing until 2 years old, even though the law states one year AND 20 lbs. They are working on getting laws changed, so PLEASE keep your children rear-facing as long as possible!) After BRU, we wandered on over to the Morton Arboretum to show Frankie how awesome this place was. I got some killer pictures of Eddie, so I'll post those with the weekend set. We went home expecting an easy night (I cancelled our normal Friday Night Dinners with the neighbors) but were invited to Chili's (!!!!) with the baby-bearing crowd of our neighborhood (also known as Phil and Shauna, Nicole and Ethan, us and.....Jim. Who isn't pregnant and doesn't have a baby, but he was allowed to come). Eddie munched away on some quesadillas and black beans and provided entertainment for the crowd and showed Ethan how to be very distracting at dinner (Even though Ethan was perfectly content playing in his high chair, Eddie was trying to teach him that high chair = food or = throw stuff off of the table). We didn't end up leaving until 9ish, so Eddie zonked on the way home and we got to chat with Jim on the way home. It (almost) reminded me of the days we would drive home from Hinks - laughing, chatting and having fun (sans the drunken-ness, of course).
Saturday we went out to Palatine to celebrate Mieka's (Eddie's second cousin) one year birthday!! Jessie, Luke and Mieka flew in from North Carolina, so it was awesome to see them. Mieka is the cutest little peanut. Every time I went to take her picture, she would look right at me and sit perfectly still - every photographer's dream! Eddie had a great time watching the bubble machine and, with a big development - he walked behind a push-walker thing! I wasn't sure if he was going to do it, but I stood him up behind it and away he went! It was awesome.
Sunday we drove 2 hours to Wauconda to visit with Frankie's mom's side. They have a gorgeous backyard with wonderful shade trees, so we were able to set Eddie's blanket and toys in the shade (not that he stayed on the blanket). He had an awesome time crawling around in the grass and chasing people's beer and soda cans. We also got to meet Blake, Eddie's 3 month old second cousin, who was adorable. I was trying to think of Eddie at that age and I had such a hard time. How did I hold him? Did he hold his head up? What did he like to play with? It really hit me that time is going by so fast. My little bug isn't so little anymore....after we left there we decided that since we were in the area (on the way home) we went to Bon.efis.h Gri.ll to have some of their delicious bang.bang.shrimp. Ohmigosh - that stuff is beyond amazing. Eddie was so over being out and about at that point that I was able to nearly miss a breakdown by taking him to the car while Frank waited for the check. If our waitress didn't SUCK, I wouldn't have to worry :)
Monday was supposed to be our relaxing day, but plans changed and we decided to go see UP with Stefanie. Not only was Eddie great during the movie (playing on me, occasionally watching and finally napping) the movie itself was awesome. I would have to say that UP is one of my favorite movies - even though it is sad, the story and the imagery is amazing. I would recommend it to most everyone - except for someone that is TTC (trying to conceive) because that is where the sad comes in. After that, we went to BRU to get Eddie a walk behind push thingy (what are these called?) but I got my heart set on an awesome inflatable bouncy/ball bit/baby gym. It is meant to go outside, but I wanted to have it inside for our upcoming play date. Stefanie and I went back to my parent's house so she could see Eddie crawl and *attempt* to get some pictures of the two of them. Every time Stefanie would go by Eddie for a picture, he would stay for a half second and crawl away. It was hilarious! Stefanie understood though - the man is on the move! Grandpa came home to our surprise (he didn't know that Eddie and I were coming for dinner - so he pouted all weekend that we didn't visit them) and I think he was very pleased to see us :) He even went outside to grill and Eddie watched him through the glass doors....he loves his Grandpas! I got sucked into the mess that is "I'm a Celebr.ity - Get me O.ut of Her.e" so we stayed later than anticipated, but the stupidity was worth it! LOL.
On Saturday we had the great idea to have all of the babies at our house for a baby play date while Mieka was in town. I was worried about having 3 one year olds at our home, but it worked well and I think that Eddie can still cause more trouble then them! He made a great impression by chewing on his high chair leg - a new trick that he debuted just for his guests! The babies enjoyed some pasta, mango and broccoli while the ladies had some pasta (bertolli - ha!), salad, bread sticks and the most amazing cupcakes from Swe.et Drea.ms Desserts. All of the babies got along wonderfully - Michael and Shelby ran circles around all of us while Mieka and Eddie were more each other's speed. They even crawled in sync together in the living room - it was adorable! As of 6:00pm Eddie is taking a much needed nap. I hope he isn't down for the night, but I wouldn't be surprised!
Tomorrow we have Eddie's 9month Dr appointment, which I can't believe. Like I said above - it is shocking to me that we're here already. I'll try to update tonight with pictures of the weekend (plus some) and will also try to post Eddie's 9 month stats. In the meantime - I'm napping while Eddie does!
