y3w

Now, I realize that neither of these are the most...flattering?...pictures of Eddie. But, they do totally encompass what we have been through this week. THE BOY WANTS TO CHEW EVERYTHING!!! This includes, but is not limited to - his feet, his hands, any and all toys, cooking utensils, and my face. More importantly, my chin. Whats worse, is that when he chews my chin, he also grabs onto my cheeks and pulls! What a great diet plan...I want to lose weight (esp. in my face) so my son can no longer make my cheeks into his playdoh - screech of pain included! Just so you don't think I'm lying....
can you see the shadow from is little fingers digging into my cheek? Pain, I tell you. Also, please don't mind that the sun/shadow is giving Eddie a crazy looking nose. I promise you, he doesn't have the dreaded Carlson nose...he has the cute Turza one :)

I think we got played...

Frank and I love to go to Geneva to shop, eat and wander. Yesterday, we went to get some fresh air and stopped into my favorite baby store Cra.d.les and A.ll. This store is simply amazing - the owner as a great eye and I love everything she has. Anyway...she came up to chat and we got on the subject of the economy, how she was fairing etc....This whole conversation started because I picked up a bright orange piggy bank that matched Eddie's room. Here's how it went: owner: I saw you pick up that piggy bank, is your child's nursery orange? me: yes, it is very hard to find things that match...blahblahblah...so how are you guys doing over here? Still holding your own? It looks like you've got a lot of new stuff in. owner: yeah, we're trying to change things around a bit to see what is going to sell. We're doing okay.....I have 5 kids, you know? We're just happy to be barely scraping by...the rent here is so expensive....but we've been here 4 years, which is great. me: oh, yeah, how are the twins? ((((blah, blah, we talk some more))))) me: well the nice weather should help some, eh? All of the moms want to get out of the house! owner: it will be nice....those couple of days it was warm we had a lot of people walking around, but no one buying. Which is okay.....(gives me a look)

me: oh...um....

....she goes off and helps a customer. So what do I do? Look at Frank and say we had to get something....we were just walking out! She totally caught us while we were leaving and got us to buy something.

Suckers, I tell you. A bunch of suckers. Anyway, here are some pictures from our little outing.

We've been invaded

By this...

GERMS!! And contrary to the commercials, Muc.ine.x does not work wonders. The crappy little guy above is still living in my sinus cavities. It started with a very crabby baby on Friday...I knew something wasn't right, but I was hoping that he would kick it. Saturday, Eddie was just crying hysterically or sleeping. He would only eat 2oz of every bottle, when he usually eats 6 with each bottle. He was so miserable...I took him temperature (rectally, the poor fellow) and it was 99.6, which isn't concerning. After calling the pedi, they wanted to see him because of the non-eating. When we got there, his temp was 100.6...not good. After listening to him for a while, Dr. Phillips diagnosed Eddie with RSV. He advised me to watch his breathing (making sure it didn't go over 60 breaths per minute) and listen for wheezing. With our family history of asthma, this was a very valid concern. Dr. Phillips did say that if we made it to Monday, we were in the clear. Saturday did get worse...his temp went up to 101.6, but his temp eventually went down, breathing calmed and he made it to Monday!! WOOO HOOOOOO!!!

Me, on the other hand....not so good. It started with a very, very sore throat. I went into the doctor Sunday and have a sinus infection. Yay! Thank God Frankie was home Sunday to let me sleep...I barely made it through by myself yesterday. He ended up coming home early and I went to bed at 6:00pm. Today I woke up feeling a little better...still very stuffy but the sore throat finally stopped and I can swallow again! I'm just hoping to be a little better by Sunday. Oh! I forgot to say that in my sicky sick haze, I bashed my face on the counter while putting away the toaster. A lump has developed on my eyebrow, but I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a big bruise. Wouldn't that just be so pretty at my son's baptism? And another oh! Frankie is getting sick too. Yay! At least my baby boy doesn't look like this anymore.....

isn't that just heartbreaking? My poor man. I won't leave you with that sad picture, though...here's a happy one...

this is the mister doing his attempt at crawling...he basically pushes his legs around so much that he can scooch himself a little bit...but the scooching pulls down is shirt and gives him some killer man cleavage. Ha! We were scared he was going to give his little nips some rug burn :)

y3w

Wow, sorry! I didn't realize I've been neglecting this so much....whooops! Anyway....

This week Eddie has been bonding with the dogs....and today, the cat! He loves to pet Saddie and does so pretty much every morning. Jack, well, he tolerates the petting, but since he has longer hair it just means a nice tug from Eddie. I can understand why he's not so crazy about that. I'm off to try to nap with Eddie, but promise I'll be back to post soon.

Y3W x 2

I couldn't decide if I wanted to do a Y3W that went the holiday route or one that documented Eddie's milestone of the week, so I decided to do both! This week Eddie has really mastered sitting up on his own. He very rarely needs a balance check...although when I went to take a picture, what do you know? Boom, he falls over. Notice the tears in his eyes, this is round 2. :) You think I would learn my lesson, but no. Luckily, we haven't had anymore booms.

Eddie checking out his long distance love, Lillie. His new favorite thing is the computer, so I let him look at some pictures and pound on the keyboard a bit. I think he was trying to send her a valentine....

Baby Yoga

Yes, we go to baby yoga. Every week, Eddie and I drive to Naperville to go to Universal Spirit Yoga on Mill Street. Let me tell you, this is my favorite day of the week. The women in this class are so welcoming and have become such a wonderful support group for myself and Eddie. As an added bonus, all of the babies are adorable! We started going when Eddie was 10 weeks old and have learned the "magic poses" which help stop fussiness and crying immediately - digestion exercises (which work like a CHARM, let me tell you. Eddie is infamous during digestion stuff) - some mommy poses - "brain balancing" poses which help Eddie get used to all of those super fun extremities like...FEET! Last week, during some poses Eddie found that he could get his foot into his mouth and that joy hasn't stopped yet. It is really amazing the difference baby yoga makes....one little girl there is already walking and isn't even 1 yet!
Eddie loves Angie, our instructor!

We also go to lunch with my friend Vicki (seamstress extraordinaire) after yoga every week. I think I laugh more in that lunch than I do all week. Eddie has a major crush on Vicki and gives her these little coy smiles that I have never seen him give anyone...until last week, when he fell for a little girl named Charlotte in class and then gave Vicki the evil eye the entire lunch. Oh, this boy is full of personality. Since it was so nice yesterday (in the 60's!) we went walking and shopping around Naperville. I am convinced that even Eddie was relieved that we could be outside. Today...it is rainy and cold again. BOOOOOOOO. Maybe spring will come some day....

Stolen from Nanna

My happy man in his excersaucer at Nanna and Grandpa's house. I love, love, love this picture. Almost as much as I love the little man :)

----FAIL-----

Eddie has been sleeping in our room since he was born. He sleeps in this....

An Arm's Reach Original Co-Sleeper. It was the perfect solution for us - I wanted Eddie close, but to have his own space at the same time. Well, we decided last night that maybe it was time to put Eddie in his own room. He wakes up many times through out the night because he either lost his paci or moved onto his back, so you either re-position him or replace paci and he is good to go. Frankie and I thought that this disturbance may be because of us waking him up, so maybe if he was in his room he would get some better sleep. YEAH, NO. Not only was he up the same amount, but instead of being able to sleepily reach over, fix him whatever was wrong and go back to sleep without thinking about it I had to - hear him cry, wait to see if he really was awake or would just go back down - second cry, okay time to get up - walk to his room - turn on the nightlight so I can see what is wrong - fix it - make sure he is good - walk back to our room - kick the dog out of my spot - stare at the monitor to make sure he is still okay - sleep. Wake up, repeat 2 hours later. The frustrating part is that he isn't really awake when he cries - he is perfectly sound asleep once you fix the issue. So what do I do? Let him CIO (cry it out) or take the 2 seconds to fix it? Am I creating a horrible pattern here?

Either way, his arm's reach is coming back into our room. I just can't justify having him across the hall when I am still playing the paci game. The worst part is, I decide to move him the night before the banker ball. Which means now I am super tired and have to be awake enough to play happy wife to a room full of strangers. (Oh yes, he sleeps great! Like a charm! No, those aren't black eyes, they're just my enormous bags from not sleeping. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yawn during your story. No, that doesn't mean I think you're boring...I can just see it now) Anyone have any advice? I would really, really appreciate it!

Wish me luck tonight, I think I'm going to need it. Oh, and lots of coffee. Wait, can't have coffee. Lots and lots of luck, then.

My first Y3W!

Ethan and Nicole come over every Friday and hang out for a while. It is so fun to see how much they have grown in the last couple weeks. We have been doing this for about a month...the first time, it was more for me and Nicole than it was for the boys. Now, just a couple weeks later, they really started interacting and checking each other out. I can only imagine what they think and say to each other when they just babble away. The play dates not only create a nice outlet for the boys, it also allows me to have some real conversation! We talk about everything from the boys, to saving money, spending money, good toys, eating (the boys) and cooking (for us and the boys). I think I have her convinced to make her own baby food, too! Yay!

Y3W

I have decided I am going to start doing a "Your 3 Words" post every Friday. It is a great way to sum up your week, usually with a picture. Hopefully this will keep me blogging on a regular basis. I also am toying with the idea of doing a 101 things to do in 1001 days list, but am a little worried about coming up with that many goals, as small (or large) as they may be.

In other news, I got the invites out for Eddie's baptism- yay! It is short notice, I know, but hopefully people can make it work. I have been fretting for days about what to do for centerpieces....I have no idea what to so hopefully I can come up with something. If you have any ideas, let me know! Maybe I'll get some inspiration at the bank function we are going to on Saturday....Eddie gets the whole night with Nanna and we get a night out! I'm super excited to get some real adult time and get dressed up for a night. I may feel like a real person again...amazing!

Apples, anyone?

Before we get to the apples, let's talk about the Superbowl! Eddie was very confused as to why the Bears weren't playing...I had to explain to him the heartbreak that Bears fans go through every year...we all ask ourselves the same question and come up with either a) the defense b) the offense or c) we just suck. Either way, Eddie refused to support anyone but his beloved Bears.

In other exciting news, we tried apples this morning! Eddie, well, he wasn't too sure....

He definitely didn't like them on their own, but was *kindof* okay with them mixed with rice cereal. I was really hoping to dump the cereal soon, but he is pretty attached to it. I hope we can get through a couple of days worth of apples - I want to keep expanding his tastes as much as I can. If Eddie had his way, I think it would be carrots and rice forever! I plan to go to Duck Soup, our local organic Co-Op today to get some more veggies. I can't wait for the summer to come so I can just go to the farm stands...I guess that is one plus to living in the country - and having a huge farm right down the road!
