Frank and I love to go to Geneva to shop, eat and wander. Yesterday, we went to get some fresh air and stopped into my favorite baby store Cra.d.les and A.ll. This store is simply amazing - the owner as a great eye and I love everything she has. Anyway...she came up to chat and we got on the subject of the economy, how she was fairing etc....This whole conversation started because I picked up a bright orange piggy bank that matched Eddie's room. Here's how it went:
owner: I saw you pick up that piggy bank, is your child's nursery orange?
me: yes, it is very hard to find things that match...blahblahblah...so how are you guys doing over here? Still holding your own? It looks like you've got a lot of new stuff in.
owner: yeah, we're trying to change things around a bit to see what is going to sell. We're doing okay.....I have 5 kids, you know? We're just happy to be barely scraping by...the rent here is so expensive....but we've been here 4 years, which is great.
me: oh, yeah, how are the twins?
((((blah, blah, we talk some more)))))
me: well the nice weather should help some, eh? All of the moms want to get out of the house!
owner: it will be nice....those couple of days it was warm we had a lot of people walking around, but no one buying. Which is okay.....(gives me a look)
me: oh...um....
....she goes off and helps a customer. So what do I do? Look at Frank and say we had to get something....we were just walking out! She totally caught us while we were leaving and got us to buy something.
Suckers, I tell you. A bunch of suckers. Anyway, here are some pictures from our little outing.
