The Fourth weekend was super busy, but also really fun. We left Friday afternoon, first dropping the dogs with at my parents house (Camp Nanna Grandpa!) and then continuing on to Lake Geneva. We stayed at the old Interlaken (now the Lodge at Geneva Ridge) in one of the villas that are privately owned but rented back out when available. The villa was nice - it was small but perfect for a weekend up there. The carpeting and all of the furniture was new, so that was a nice surprise. Friday night we went to Popeyes (not the fast food place) and waited for a while, but got in and actually had a great waiter that brought our food out super fast (after waiting FOREVER on drinks). Eddie was very well behaved at dinner (and all restaurant stops, for that matter) so that made it easier on all of us! Did I mention we went with Frankie's sister and brother-in-law? They are childless and I was quite worried about traumatizing them, but Eddie was so well behaved that they might have even been impressed :). Saturday was the busy day, which I will tell in pictures....
We started Saturday with Eddie sleeping in an extra hour (7:30 - woot!), going to breakfast and heading to a small parade in my aunt's neighborhood. Eddie was VERY excited about his flag and couldn't decide if he'd rather wave it around like a madman (above) or eat it. The waving got old fairly quickly and the eating seemed to be becoming a better option, so the flag didn't last long.
Isn't my crown awesome?! If you think I'm creative, you should meet my Aunt Lorrie. She blows me out of the water!!!
Parade entertainment - LG style. This is how all of the parades are in LG - all of the kids decorate their bikes or scooters and walk a block of the neighborhood. I grew up doing these, and I can't wait to have Eddie in one someday. This is the only picture I got of Kelby (my cousin), her son Wyatt and daughter Ellie and Aunt Lorrie, but it's cute, so we'll take it! (FYI - Lorrie is trying to stop Ellie for biking down the massive hill that leads to the lake - lots of kids almost bit it, adding to the fun when they were snotting teens :)) haha!)
Awesome parade anchor. Check out the Dad in the life vest! Classic.
After the parade, we went to Frankie's Aunt and Uncle's place in Abbey Springs to hang out on the beach, play with the cousins and eat some yummy food. That's where we learned that Eddie loves watermelon. Like seriously, unstoppable, juice running down the belly, do anything for my watermelon love.
What happens when you take said watermelon away, you ask?
This. End of story.
Before we got to LG, I vowed that Eddie would not get on a boat on the 4th weekend because it was too busy and there were too many drunk people driving boats. Well, that went out the window. Since it was a little cooler, the lake wasn't very busy (like, at all) so we decided to go for it. Internet, meet First Mate Eddie.....
I know he looks miserable in this picture, but he really wasn't. I think the life jacket was a little uncomfortable (duh - look at the poor kid's cheeks) but we quickly had him laughing and having fun. Until we decided to have Eddie drive.
Wait, what did I say about the drunk people driving boats again? (Just kidding, Uncle Jim!) While this was a great picture opportunity, Eddie wasn't so thrilled. He freaked and I just couldn't get him calmed down. We had planned on taking a short trip anyway, so we just turned around (we had been out for about 10 minutes) and went back to Abbey Springs. He screamed the whole way back - a full on, freak out scream. We got back to our picnic site (which seems like it takes FOREVER when you have a screaming child in your arms) and got him calmed down with the help of his blankie. Thank God for the blankie! People were starting to stare.
(and don't worry, he just loves playing with cups.) Anything to make him happy at this point, let me tell you.

(and don't worry, he just loves playing with cups.) Anything to make him happy at this point, let me tell you. We ended up leaving before the fireworks, mostly because we knew Eddie was totally ready for bed, didn't get a great nap and was probably going to freak at the firework booms. I'm a better safe than sorry person, and I really couldn't deal with more freak outs. Once you have a calm baby, you get used to it! Sunday morning we went to Egg Harbor to visit Cousin Jamie, walked around a bit and went home. When we got to my parent's house, they generously took Eddie for a walk so Frankie and I could get a little break and nap. (whew!) It was a very long weekend....while everything went smoothly, we were super tired because Eddie pretty much only napped when we were in the car, so there was no real break time for us. Frank and I decided that we'd like to go up at least one more time this summer to take an overnighter by ourselves, but I'm still not sure if we can do that. We are planning to leave Eddie with Nanna for a night when we go to the Buffet concert at the end of August and I have enough anxiety about that.
We'll see.....all I can tell you is that the Turza Family is tired. We all need a good nap....if only I can sleep as soundly as my handsome little man.
