4th of July - the details

We intended to keep this BBQ simple.....until I went to the party store and some sort of American pride bug bit the shit out of me, inspiring me to buy anything with a flag on it in sight.

In my head, I was chanting USA!USA!USA! and the register is ringing up somewhere around the $75 mark....heh. Ooops.

{shiny star things left over from Eddie's birthday party}

{i love lanterns, always and forever. too bad these got stuck in a random rain storm in the middle of the day and are pretty much ruined. Boo.}

{bunting. heh}

{look! I even found an Uncle Sam statue!}

{it isn't a BBQ without Tiki Torches!}

{flag cookies (made by me and eddie...well, as much as you can claim to make something that you just have to take out of the package and bake...) and little personal angel food cakes with whipped cream and berries}

{nom}

And of course, every party has to have a centerpiece. The main decor item that makes you think....WOW. That brings it all full circle! That item at our BBQ?

{WOW, right?!?}

HAAAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Aren't they hilarious? We had our own view of the fireworks in Washington, ya'll! The fireworks were so realistic that they were clearly the show stopper of our party.

(required disclaimer: yes. i know these are ugly. i know they are very, very strange. but i love them for their fug, and loved their (comedy driven) addition to our BBQ!)
