{gah! cuteness overload}
This weekend the whole family (including both sets of grandparents!!) took a trip to the apple orchard for some apple fun. The one good thing about living in the country that we are so close to all of the fall harvest events (and one winter event - a Christmas tree farm!)...we have 2 pumpkin patches within 10 minutes, one that we can see from our house and tons of apple orchards, too. Last year we took a trip to the over commercialized and way too crowded Kuiper's on Route 38 (incase it isn't clear, I don't recommend this place) and had fun, but it wasn't what we wanted. Oh! And for reference....
{aw! look at the little man!}
Hmm...want a better view?
{....annnnnd I just died from the cuteness}
Alright. Where were we? Oh yeah....THIS year. We decided that we wanted to find a small, family run orchard. One that wasn't trying to take you every chance they could and wasn't making a huge show out of something that is supposed to be simple. We found the perfect orchard off of Plank Road, properly named the Plank Road Orchard. It was perfect...just some trees, some old school plastic outdoor toys and a small shop inside. Were the cider doughnuts as good as last year? Well, no. But the experience as a whole was better, as we didn't have to wait 30 minutes to enter the orchard, have to walk a mile to park or fight for trees to pick from. Intead, we took our time, had fun and enjoyed the beautiful day.
{why we are being directed by a dinosaur, I don't know, but we'll take it!}
{alright, I guess this year is just as cute...}

{not and intentional sun burst..it was just really sunny!}
I honestly can't wait to go back next year. Eddie seriously enjoyed being pulled around in his wagon and munching on his apple (and is now in love with apples and must have some when we have one). I wanted to bring a picnic and give Eddie lunch, but since we didn't really know what the orchard would be like we didn't. Big mistake!! There were picnic tables all over, toys to entertain Eddie and some beautiful property to enjoy...I really wish we had taken more time for a picnic, but at least now we know for next year.
{see? told you he had fun!}
Oh, and if anyone has any good apple recipes they would like to share, please do! We have about 5 pounds of apples....seriously.
