Yesterday was a day filled with laughter. I will bodly declare it the best day of the year. Heh. Don't you love that? When, right after the new year, people run around and are like 'I haven't seen you all year!'. Dorks. Who would do such a thing? Who would declare something the best of the year 4 days in? That is SO last year.
Anywho. The best day of 2010. So far.
Eddie and I started the morning at swim lessons. Where he - would kick when you said to - didn't cling on my like a spider monkey - went underwater more times than I could count, without freaking out - and best of all....HE BLEW BUBBLES! He watched the teacher do it, watched me do it and decided that he could figure that out. And he did! It was awesome. He loves the water and loves to splash me and everyone else in the class....he is my little fish for sure. Yay!
After swimming we went to my parent's house where Eddie had some lunch and a quick nap. A couple hours later we met with my friend Stef and had lunch with her at the Rainforest Cafe. Lots and lots of pointing and 'oohh'-ing at various animals ensued. Rainforest Cafe = awesome for toddlers. Eddie was so intruiged with the animals that Stef and I got to chat away while Eddie looked around in awe. No fussy toddler lunch for us! Then, after lunch we went to Ikea, where Eddie had a ball being thrown into the pit of stuffed animals, Stef got some awesome lamps (and boldy declared she never knew lamps could be so exciting! Welcome to the world of Ikea, my dear. It will suck you in!) and I got an awesome plant that then died on the way home. The mix of cold outside and heat being blown on it, maybe? Ugh. Who knows. I suck with plants. Oh! I also got a new lamp shade for the lamp that hangs above our table for a dollar. A DOLLAR! It had a little stain on it, like someone dribbled some coffee or something, but we got it light enough that it isn't that noticable. If it is, who cares. It was A DOLLAR!
So. Fun day, right? Not done yet! By the time Eddie and I left Stef, it was 5:05. Rush hour. It normally takes me about an hour and a half to get home from Woodfield. With rush hour, it would take much, much longer. Eddie needed dinner and I knew that he would not cooperate for that long in the car if he was hungry, so we surprised my parents for dinner. Eddie hamed it up by - playing with his t-ball set up from Auntie Stef, which he loves more that anything in the world. He hits the ball and says 'bat!' - copying Nanna with her whistle, by putting both hands up to his mouth and making high pitched squeeks - my dad gave me the heimlick (sp?) when I began to choke on some stuffing, which resulted in me laughing so hard I cried - and some more funny stuff that I can't even remember.
Really, as I recaped the day for Frank, I was laughing so hard. Eddie was awesome throughout the whole day, which was amazing. He had as much fun as I did :) Days like that are like a revitilization for the soul. Everyone needs one of those every now and then. I mean, it has been such a hard year. Phew.
